How do you link additional projects (subjobs) with BuildOps?

Before you start

The main project must already be imported (see: How do you Sync Projects with BuildOps?).
You need the Edit Project Settings permission for BuildOps.

Link an additional project

Open the project in Integrations > BuildOps > Projects > [Project Name].
In the Linked Jobs table, choose to add a job.
Select the BuildOps project you want to link and confirm.

The linked job appears in the table with a Synced status. Projects that are already mapped as a main project, or already linked to another SmartBarrel project, are not shown in the list.

What happens to the linked job's cost codes?

The next Cost Code Sync brings in cost codes from the main project and every linked job together. Cost codes from a linked job include the linked project in their name so they stay easy to tell apart, and your main project's cost codes are unchanged.

Import Labor Dollars

The Cost Codes section of the project settings has an Import Labor Dollars toggle, on by default. When it is on, each cost code's labor budget from BuildOps is brought in along with the cost code. Turn it off if you do not want the labor budget imported.

Unlink a project

Remove a linked job from the Linked Jobs table to unlink it. On the next Cost Code Sync, that job's cost codes are deactivated, while your main project and any other linked jobs stay active.

FAQ

Does BuildOps have subjobs? BuildOps does not have a built in subjob concept. These are ordinary BuildOps projects that you link into one SmartBarrel project, the same way you can with CMiC, Foundation, and Vista.

Why would I use this? If a single job site is set up as several projects in BuildOps, linking them lets you track all of their cost codes under one SmartBarrel project.
