[SmartBarrel Dashboard](https://ask.smartbarrel.io/smartbarrel-dashboard?hsLang=en) # How do I use the Broadcasting Tool? ## The broadcasting tool is a feature that allows users to send SMS messages to workers within a project. Users have the option to select workers from a specific crew, contractor, or all workers assigned to the project. #### **This feature is useful in situations when:** - The project schedule has been modified. - Weather alerts impacting the job site. - Urgent or last-minute notifications #### **Things to Consider:** - Only users with "Create Broadcast" permission can send messages. - This feature is only available in the individual project on the SmartBarrel dashboard. - The message field must contain at least 3 characters and is limited to 160 characters.  #### **Steps to Send a Broadcast Message:** Step 1.  Locate the project in the dashboard, scroll down to the "Broadcast tool" section, and Click "Add" ![](https://ask.smartbarrel.io/hs-fs/hubfs/image-png-Nov-02-2024-12-45-02-6908-AM.png?width=688&height=318&name=image-png-Nov-02-2024-12-45-02-6908-AM.png)   Step 2. Configure Broadcast using one of the options below: - **Source**: This can be either a Contractor or Crew. - Select "*All Contractors*" to view all workers or choose a specific contractor to filter the list. - Use the "*Crew*" option to filter the workers list based on their assigned crew. - **Activity**: This option allows you to view all workers who have been active within the last 7 days, today, or at any time, based on the criteria you choose. ![](https://ask.smartbarrel.io/hs-fs/hubfs/image-png-Jan-17-2025-08-45-37-2878-PM.png?width=688&height=309&name=image-png-Jan-17-2025-08-45-37-2878-PM.png) Step 3.
